Olivia Wynn, a Senior at Oregon High School, from Chana, Illinois, has been selected as the 2022 recipient of the Ken Freeman Memorial Scholarship. Olivia is a dedicated, hardworking individual, both inside and outside of the competition arena. She has served as the president of the Illinois Quarter Horse Youth Association for two years. She has also served as the organizations Vice-President, Reporter (2 years), and Regional Director. Further, she has represented Illinois at the Youth Excellence Seminars, the AQHYA World Team, and the All-American Quarter Horse Congress NYATT Team.

Olivia also excels in her other arenas of life. She has made All-State Chorus two times and has been recognized as Oregon High School’s Student of the Quarter four times. She also plays volleyball, soccer, and is a member of her high school’s madrigals, jazz choir, and musical programs. Further, she has served in both community youth groups and Student Council for multiple years.

It is evident that Olivia prioritizes her efforts in the classroom. She currently ranks in the Top 5% of her graduating class and plans to pursue a career as a Physician’s Assistant at University of Tennessee Martin, where she will also ride for the University’s Division I equestrian team.

Much like her grandfather, Ken Freeman, Olivia’s most resounding qualities, more than these accolades, are her kindness and calming presence. She is a friend to all, much like her grandfather was to each person at the horse shows.

We are proud of Olivia and each of our ILQHYA members. Your futures are so bright. Continue to dream big, work hard, and help each other out along the way.
