Leading Breeder John Narmont Remembered

John S.  Narmont, age 81, of Auburn, IL died peacefully at his home in Auburn, IL of natural causes, on January 18, 2024.
John studied law at Notre Dame and opened his own Law Practice in Springfield, IL. John will always be known for his successful law career, but his biggest passion was for the American Quarter Horse. In 1979 John and his wife Sondra established Richland Ranch, Inc in Auburn, IL, one of the largest quarter horse breeding facilities in the mid-west. John owned many famous World Champion stallions such as Coats N Tails, Impressive Review and AQHA & NSBA Hall of Fame recipient, Zippos Mr. Good Bar, just to name a few. John was honored by AQHA in 2011 as #1 leading breeder after a lifetime of dedication to the industry. He was also inducted to the Illinois Quarter Horse Association Hall Of Fame in 2016. John loved breeding and showing so much he created the Solid Gold Futurity in 1984. The show was a huge success and continued through 1994.
In 1996 John started a new show named The International Livestock Expo. Those shows had many different breed shows, entertainments and Concerts.
John enjoyed giving back to the community and for many years provided petting zoo and pony rides at the ILL State Fair along with giving farm tours to hundreds of children at the ranch. John enjoyed taking groups of local students to watch the Notre Dame Football games.
John always had a soft spot in his heart for his furry friends and treated each one like the valuable family member they were.
