I was in the army for 4 years, active duty as an MP. I served 1 year in Iraq from 2010 to 2011. About a year out of the service I used my GI bill and attended shoeing school at Midwest Horseshoeing School down by Springfield. My current occupation is a full-time farrier. I've been doing that for about 6 years now.

I got my first horse when I was around 7. It was a yearling Haflinger and we broke it to ride and drive. It wasn't until high school that we started getting into quarter horses and doing a little more riding and showing.

My first quarter horse that I owned is the one I'm currently showing. His name is JH Caribbean Cowboy, barn name "Cowboy". I acquired him when he was a yearling from my step grandfather Jim Henrekin who raised and showed halter horses on the quarter horse circuit. At two I broke him to ride and trail rode him a bunch and he turned out to be the best trail horse I ever had.

My favorite class at the moment is Showmanship. When Cowboy was around 4 or 5 we started working with Jen Drinkall Performance Horses. After about 2 years we started winning a little and then went to some bigger shows and now we're placing at the world shows.

My future plans consist of continuing with showmanship with Cowboy and competing at Congress, NSBA World and AQHA world and hopefully bringing home some hardware. I am engaged to Abigail Lobdell and we are set to get married next July. I am hoping she might try equitation on Cowboy so that will be something to look forward to.
