Mya Klingenberg

Hi! My name is Mya Klingenberg! I currently show in the 14-18 all around events with my 5-year-old bay gelding “Trouble Sleepin” aka Sully by “Too Sleepy to Zip”. His show name suggests otherwise, but Sully finds sleep in the most chaotic moments and will fall asleep whenever he gets the chance. My other horse, “Secritary of State” aka Jesse, was my 13 and under horse that helped me transition into the 14-18 division. She really kickstarted my ambition and perseverance in showing and is now happily retired.

My most memorable moments are always being with the people that appreciate this sport as much as I do and making new friends along the way. One of my favorite things is catching small-talk conversations with the other youth kids at the end of the pattern or walking out of the arena.

My favorite accomplishment in the show arena would have to be winning the Illinois Intermediate of the Year with Jesse in 2017 because we had both worked so hard during our first year showing to do the best we could!

My biggest mentors in the horse industry are of course my wonderful trainers Val and Colton Smith, who have both helped me grow in so many ways as a horseman and person. They’re truly amazing and can put a smile on anyone’s face.

In my future, I’d like to see myself continue showing through college and succeeding at Youth Worlds and Congress in my last two years as a Youth. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
