Greetings to all, Hawthorne has contacted me about races in October. There will be 2 races on Sunday Oct. 19th starting at 1:00 PM. Each race will be for a purse of $10,000 and can run gates of 12 horses. The races will be as follows: 2 year old maiden race, I.C.F. preferred but will fill race with open 2 year olds at a distance of 350 yards 3 year old and up maiden race, I.C.F preferred but will fill race with open horses for a distance of 400 yards There will be other conditions in November such as non winners of two and allowance races for 3 year old and up. We need to make sure we fill these races because Hawthorne lost the harness races in the summer of 2009. We might get to run several races every weekend in July and August. Make sure everyone checks the condition book for the proper time to call Hawthorne. Fairmount has been granted 75 days for 2009 from April 7th to Sept 26th. They might write 1 race a month for us. RACE NEWS FROM EFFINGHAM

Every year IQHA sponsors the Quarter Horse racing at the Effingham County Fair. Many of our Race Association directors not only participate, but win. Here's the photo of the winner and below is the message from Dean Wetherell the Racing Superintendent for the fair. The Quarter horse race went in 9 3/5 seconds and was won by Driftin Gypsy Girl, owned by Norm Bishop of Marshall, Il. Ace's Dash N Dywawl was second owned by Kelly Lehn of Keysport and riden by Ashley Snedegar. Ace's Flaming Fred was third owned by Dana Webb of Tunnel Hill and riden by Alex Rizo.
